Remote monitoring of ventilated patients: launch in 3, 2, 1…

Although medical telemonitoring has been part of French common law for nearly three years, it has not yet realised its full potential. This is particularly true in the field of respiratory care, where it requires coordination between several parties. But there is good news: with structured preparation and appropriate support, its implementation becomes a smooth process. The organisational change it entails is not so much a constraint as an opportunity: the chance to tangibly improve the care and monitoring of ventilated patients.

*The remote monitoring of ventilated patients and its reimbursement are enshrined in French common law.

Laying the foundations: the agreement

Any effective cooperation begins with a clear division of roles, formalised by the signing of an agreement between:

  • The Operator (the doctor and their medical team, having previously declared their remote monitoring activities to the ARS);
  • The Owner, who may be either the HCP or the publisher of the digital medical device (DMN), for example Vestalis SAS.

The partners also sign a data-sharing agreement to ensure the smooth and secure flow of information.

Setting up access

The Operator, the Prescriber and the HCP create their accounts on Vestalis and invite each other to collaborate. As soon as a remote monitoring prescription is issued via the Vestalis DMN, the patient is added to the active lists of the Operator, the Prescriber, the medical team and the HCP.

Enrolling patients

The Operator obtains the patient’s consent and uploads the remote monitoring documents (prescription and consent form) to the patient’s record on Vestalis. The HCP marks the patient as connected and establishes the patient-device connection. Remote monitoring is now up and running!

Sharing daily tasks

Each user accesses their own dedicated interface to:

  • monitor the patients assigned to them;
  • analyse data relevant to their practice;
  • make appropriate decisions based on the clinical or technical situations that arise.

Vestalis acts as a true co-pilot, facilitating these steps through personalised support and user guidance.
